Workplace learning, characterised by the interweaving of learning and working activities, has gained attention in response to rapid technological advancements. Unlike other forms of work-related learning, workplace learning takes place directly within the context of an employee’s role and organisational environment, making it immediately practical. It occurs through engagement with daily work tasks and interactions, thereby integrating learning into the flow of work transforming workplace learning into a flexible and continuous process, allowing employees to develop skills and knowledge in real time as they encounter new challenges and opportunities. Identifying the factors that foster or hinder workplace learning in general and mutual human-AI learning in particular will enable organisations to develop informed strategies to enhance employee learning for the AI-enabled workplace.
